DRILLING / PUNCHING
Punch holes of various sizes along the binding edge are provided to meet specific requirements, We can make indexes fit standard and non-standard binders.

The most common DRILLING of index sheets is for a loose-leaf 3-ring binder. The normal 3 hole spacing for an 11 x 8 1/2" + 1/2" sheet (refer back to BINDING EDGE) is 8 1/2" from the center of one outside hole to the center of the other outside hole and 4 1/4" to the center of the middle hole.

The diameter of the hole depends on the thickness of the wire used for the ring mechanism. The sturdier rings used in the larger capacities need a hole diameter of 5/16", while lower capacities need a smaller hole diameter of 1/4". These diameters enable your index tabs and text pages to move freely on the rings without hanging up (small hole on a large ring) or hanging crooked (large hole on a small ring). These precautions will extend the life of your sheets.
PUNCHING for acco or prong fasteners can be on the top or on the side of the sheet. The most common spacing is 2 3/4", 4 1/4" or 8 1/2" with a 1/4" diameter hole. 19 hole PUNCHING (sometimes called GBC® or IBICO® PUNCHING) are square PUNCHED and usually PUNCHED by the customer to assure proper alignment of the text and tabs.
