Mylar can be fused over the tab area to protect and reinforce the tab. This added protection is available in 20 assorted transparent colors
A narrow strip of clear
Mylar
along the binding edge is a good idea to prevent tearing at binder holes. This reinforcing will far extend the life of the tab.
index tabs are made durable by the use of a plastic coating trademarked by Dupont as MYLAR. A heat-pressure process fuses this plastic MYLAR to the paper.
It is recommended to use MYLAR on the tab extension and as a hole reinforcement making the use of heavier paper unnecessary.
